Ambedkar Manimandapam

Bharatratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Manimandapam is a dignified memorial built by the Puducherry government on Beach Road, near Rock Beach and the Tourist Information Bureau. Unveiled on April 14, 2022, it marks the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, honoring his legacy as the architect of India’s Constitution and champion of social justice

At its center stands a golden statue of Dr. Ambedkar, housed within a white-painted pavilion, surrounded by a landscaped area complete with a water fountain. Iconic of his embrace of Buddhism, the memorial also features a Buddha icon and photo panels that chronicle Ambedkar’s life—from his academic achievements to his role as a social reformer

Beyond a statue, the Manimandapam contains a library and research center dedicated to Ambedkar—where visitors can explore his life’s work through books and archival material. Clean and well-maintained, this space is popular for quiet reflection and learning, with accessible drinking water facilities
